It works like this…….

The ad publishers pay Google for their ads to be placed all over the net & some will end up on your blog – those that are relevant to your blog’s content.

So, if your site visitors click on the adsense ads on your blog (its likely they will as the ads are related to the content of your blog which it is assumed they are interested in) you will earn a certain amount of adsense revenue.

This revenue is a portion of the amount the advertiser pays Google – Google takes their cut & the rest is yours – this could be a 50/50 split but nobody knows for sure.

Also the amount you earn for each click could vary between $ 0.01 and more than $ 10.00 (unlikely to be this high though although it can happen)

How does blogging work?

Question by redhotfirefly: How does blogging work?
Im new to blogging, hubpages, google adsense, ect. I have written some content and was wondering how the payment happens… as in.. how many times do I have to have views in order to get paid? Does it work in clicks? Or does it matter if My page gets viewed? Is it 100 clicks equals 1 dollar? Or do they have to click on the ads?

you don’t get paid for people to view your pages/blog.
adsense and click advertising is where you pay google/yahoo per page clicks you get from links from their search engines ads.
it would be nice if they pay you… but you actually pay them.

Should I hire a Ruby on Rails developer to work on my WordPress site?

Question by Sexy Robot Jesus: Should I hire a Ruby on Rails developer to work on my WordPress site?
He wants to use Ruby on Rails to install a WYSIWYG editor on my blog (WordPress) site. Does this proposal even make sense? Would he have to rebuild my site and compromise my search engine relevancy? Or can this actually be done in a wordpress installation; or more importantly, is there even a point?

Did you request a wysiwyg editor be installed? Or is it your designer wanting to install it for you to use?

How do I work in WordPress Blog?

Question by G: How do I work in WordPress Blog?
When blogging on WordPress should I open a new page before starting a new post? I have several posts up but they run consecutively down a single page. This, to my thinking, is not easy to read and doesn’t show the most recent on top so it always looks like there’s no new content.

Any other tricks you know to spruce things up or drive traffic to my blog would be helpful as well.

How do child themes work in WordPress ? Why use a child theme twentyten ?

Question by grrrzippy: How do child themes work in WordPress ? Why use a child theme twentyten ?
I have heard I should use a child theme for any changes I make to the theme, so lets say I copy the functions.php to the child theme and edit it to remove the author and date posted.
what happens when I update wordpress ?
won’t I have to update the functions.php in which case it will remove my changes anyway ?

I am confused .

Hi grrrzippy,

Yes, you will want to use a Child Theme in order to make changes to a WordPress theme. When you create a Child Theme that theme is in a separate folder from the parent theme. That way, any changes made to the parent theme (like an update) will not overwrite your changes in your Child Theme. You would not have to update your functions.php file unless there was something you wanted to change in your Child Theme after updating the parent theme.

Setting up a Child Theme only takes a few minutes and can save you a lot of headache down the road:

Hope this helps!
