Question by Amazingness is amazing: How do you make a separate log in system for WordPress?
For example, CNN uses WordPress, but when you create an account there, you are not creating an “official” WordPress account, only a CNN account. How would I do something like that where users create accounts independent of WordPress?

Is there a blogging service that allows categorized blogging on separate pages?

Question by aimango: Is there a blogging service that allows categorized blogging on separate pages?
It seems that most blog sites have the blog on 1 page, and will allow you to categorize each post, but I’m looking for a blogging service where I can have separate pages and each page I can add dated blog entries.

WordPress with certain Plugins can do Different Categories per Page, Different Tags per Page, Different Author per Page… the options are endless.

You may get a free WordPress account at a free host, or wordpress.com but are often limited to what kind of plugins you may have. Go to wordpress.org to download WordPress and install it on your own host, you can also download plugins from their site.

When it comes to the Plugins, try searching for “Advanced Categories” to see plugins for grouping/separating/hiding categories from certain pages. There are many different plugins to choose from.

I believe Drupal may also be able to do this, but it is generally more of CMS than a Blog, but you can configure it to do anything really.

Create a separate install of WordPress in a sub-folder. Ensure that the second install is not writing to any of the needed Database files. Personally I would duplicate your Database as well.

My two wordpress sites are integrating together and want to separate them?

Question by blueoreoinmd: My two wordpress sites are integrating together and want to separate them?
I have two WordPress sites, one for bankruptcy law and one for real estate law. Every time i try to go to the real estate site, it automatically redirects me to my bankruptcy site. This started happening after I imported some information from an old site to each of these sites. Now whenever I make a change to the bankruptcy site, it automatically makes the changes to the real estate one. Could someone tell me in a step by step process exactly what to do to de-integrate these sites. I am new to WordPress, so I am very unfamiliar with many of the terms so if you could tell me what I need to do specifically and detailed. Thanks

Lets hope based on what you posted this means you can log into the back end of both of the sites. As long as you can do that it should be an easy fix
Click on Settings in your admin Dashboard for WordPress and make sure that each of of the sites has the correct URL for the site you are on under the sections WordPress address and Site Address
That will fix it

Every widgets you have in wordpress will be displayed in every page of your blog, unless you tweak the PHP code.

To add widgets, go to appearance, then widgets, and drag and drop any widgets you like.

If it requires text widget, then, yes, you have to add it with text widget.
