What is Drupal? Is it more similar to Visual Studio or WordPress and Dreamweaver?

Question by Lemia: What is Drupal? Is it more similar to Visual Studio or WordPress and Dreamweaver?
Because if it’s more like WordPress and Dreamweaver than I don’t want to use it.

I’m programming with CakePHP right now. I used to program with C#.NET, so I like Visual Studio, but I hate Dreamweaver. What is Drupal more like?

Simple answer – it’s sorta-kinda like WordPress, but CakePHP is also good. And you already know it. If you want something different, but still “write PHP code” style, try CodeIgnighter http://codeigniter.com/

(Dreamweaver is just a text editor with fancy decoration, that’s sold to people who don’t know any better, for an exorbitant price.)

Hi,

I have used wordpress template that come custom in that sort of 3 colum set. View examples here (ps some are free!)http://www.freewpthemes.net/

But i would use

tage in a html page and code them using css. This way the other columns are stationary and ‘locked in’ so when you add/extend the middle information that is the only one that changes.http://webdesign.about.com/od/htmltags/qt/tipdivtag.htm

How do I convert my website from dreamweaver to wordpress?

Question by kt_scarlett7: How do I convert my website from dreamweaver to wordpress?
My friend put together my small business website in dreamweaver for me. However, I now want to maintain it myself—my friend recommended putting it into wordpress. However, I am not a web designer and have no idea what I’m doing—is there an easy way to convert my current website from dreamweaver to wordpress (for someone who can’t read code, etc)

Thanks!

You better begin by learning a little bit about WordPress (which is not difficult btw). I advise you to download XAMPP to have a local apache web server (www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html) where you can install wordpress (wordpress.org) and test it locally.
Then you have to chose a theme that suits your site, there are hundreds of free quality themes or if you can afford it, go for a premium theme (20$ to 150$ in general).
After you get familiar with wordpress, you can install it on your live server, put your theme, and begin importing (copy / paste ? yeah). You have to chose between putting your old articles as posts or as pages, posts are good if you plan a blog-like site. Ther’s also hundreds of free plugins for each single feature you may think about.

Good luck!
