I need to have a separate primary widget per page on the twenty ten theme for wordpress. Or, I need to have separate text widgets for each page with the same primary widget. How can you do this?

Every widgets you have in wordpress will be displayed in every page of your blog, unless you tweak the PHP code.

To add widgets, go to appearance, then widgets, and drag and drop any widgets you like.

If it requires text widget, then, yes, you have to add it with text widget.

You can use widget logic. Either via code, or via a plugin that works well. So you can have widget appear on one page, 2 pages, or all but one page, etc.
